The approval process lasted 8 months for a simple short sale. (This was after Chase bank sat on it for a month or two and transferred to SPS) The SPS front line staff we spoke to were polite and helpful, but appeared to have little access, influence, or visibility of the back end processes which were moving slowly.

I do recommend calling or writing the Ombudsman office, who had slightly more insight and influence: Consumer Ombudsman Specialists Ombudsman Phone: 866-662-**** Option 3 Fax: 801-293-**** Ombudsman@***.com There was challenge after challenge to overcome. For example, the SPS was waiting for the second mortgage approval, while the second mortgage was waiting for SPS. Or the real estate agent commissions weren't being approved. Or we kept getting promised approval in 30 days only to find there was another step or obstacle.

It was often difficult to determine what was required to overcome a certain obstacle. Our real estate agent was a real hero, calling SPS whenever they were delaying and looking for creative solutions for each obstacle. Our buyer showed amazing patience for the process - most would have panicked or dropped out after the delays. The extended time frame represents lost money for the seller, the buyer, the settlement firm, and bank.

We recommend a complete reworking of the approval process. We are however very thankful that the short sale was approved at the end.

Reason of review: Excessive delays.

Select Portfolio Servicing Pros: Our short sale was approved in the end, Customer service was very polite.

Select Portfolio Servicing Cons: Endless delays.

Hello I have to deal with SPS as well and I have spoken to the ombudsman. If you were speaking to the Ombudsman that SPS directed you to it may not have been an Ombudsman.

I was speaking with the Ombudsman I was directed to by SPS UNTIL ONE NIGHT I was looking online for information on sps and came across information showing I had been speaking to an attorney who works for SPS. I was unsure if the information was correct so I waited until after hours and called the phone number I had been given and I got their voice mail IT IS AN ATTORNEY NOT AN ACTUAL OMBUDSMAN. I have never called the โ€œOmbudsmanโ€ again. Be careful this company is sneaky, dishonest and you canโ€™t trust what they say.

No phone numbers or email addresses show up on this site when you post them unless you post them in this mannerโ€ฆ.reggired69 at cox dot net. I do not have the knowledge or experience to organize a lawsuit but if everyone who wants to sue SPS can contact me will finally have a list of people and the more the better.
